Lores are a stat on your sheet used to represent your knowledge in specific aspects of the lore of the World of Darkness. Each Lore describes what it's knowledge covers. Having a Lore rating of 0 means you are completely ignorant of the subject, or have the extremely ignorant and stereotyped understanding described in that Lore.

But that's not in the book!
That's true, and also totally not a question. We, as encouraged in the books themselves, have taken what we wanted and left what we didn't. That's why we have posted these guidelines here.
Where are Lores 4 and 5?
While Lores at level 4 and 5 exist, we have not posted them publicly. Two key reasons are that they are extremely difficult to acquire and because they can and will get your character killed. As the old adage goes, knowledge is power. Now, to be a Neonate (As all our PCs are) and extremely aware is to be dangerously powerful. And in fond rememberance of the First Anarch Revolt, most Elders will see you as something that needs to be crushed and destroyed before you become a problem. And in not so fond rememberance of the First Anarch Revolt, some Elders will go to extremes to assure the secrets of History -- and by extension their history -- are forever unknown to the youth.
Why is it that Lore 1 covers so little?
See the previous answer. Your sire would likely want you to know enough not to get yourself killed, or to embaress them. On the converse, they don't want you to know enough to become a threat to them or their interests. Keeping you blissfully ignorant of all but the necessary resolves this problem adequately.
Alright, then how do I increase my Lore?
By finding someone who knows more and convincing them to teach you. Not always an easy task, to say the least.
