| The Canadian dollar bill is typically called a "Buck" just like in American money. However, once the common Loon was placed on the back of the Canadian dollar coin in 1987 it also picked up the nickname of "Loonie" with English speaking Canadians. |

| When the two dollar coin was introduced in 1996 the term "Toonie" was used for it. All the listed bills are used in day to day transactions in Canada save for the .50ยข piece which is less commonly used. |
