The Magi

Clan Tremere is one of the most secretive clans of Kindred in the world. Distrusted and disliked, this clan of Warlocks and Witches takes great pains to enforce its will on even the most lowly of neonates of Clan Tremere. It's great mysteries are shrouded by centuries old traditions and bylaws which protect their prized secrets, and are reinforced by bloodbond, the use of Dominate, and hypnoindoctrination. Such has assured that few, if any outside Clan and House Tremere ever learn the secrets of Thaumaturgy.

Science, Mysticism, and the Occult

Initially, Mages seeking a means to immortality, they achieved it through vampirism, but the cost was equally great. The immense power of True Magic was lost to them upon becoming vampires, and thus as a result they scrambled to achieve at least some semblance of their former glory. Thaumaturgy became the answer, but Mages are not limited to simply being wizards and sorcerers hurling fireballs and moving objects with their minds like those told of in fables (though some are); they are also alchemists, doctors, spiritualists, occultists - men and women alike yielding immense understanding and knowledge, whether through formal education or independent studies into the unknown. Therefore, many Tremere are just those things: former medical doctors or college professors, simple yet talented college students, deranged occultists, a few are even wise and knowledgeable gypsies or even brilliant physicists; and each of these unique members seek a means to - if not furthering the Tremere's sorcerous powers of various Thaumaturgical Blood Magics, then furthering the Tremere's influential sway in mortal and Kindred society alike via social or mystical means - it is often difficult to say or know which method it is achieved, typically both.

Politics

Because of the insular nature of the Tremere to guard their most precious secrets, as a whole they often show an utterly united front of loyalty to only each other, and do prove to be very politically savvy. However, that is not to say they do not work with the other clans of the Camarilla, and more specifically the Camarilla. There is no such thing as an Anarch Tremere, and those who do step outside of the clan are suddenly never heard from again outside perhaps their screams of horror carried in the night air (and the same is definitely said for any members of the House Goratrix who all bear the mark of the Betrayer). In any case, they often do - and somewhat contradictorily - work with the other clans, more specifically the Ventrue, who are the closest thing to "allies" the Tremere possess within the Camarilla. It is true, some Tremere wryly remark for every sorcerous Tzimisce counselor who advises a Lasombra bishop, a cunning Tremere advises an insidious Ventrue.
